Know Your Veils
Deciding if you want a veil, and what kind of veil you would like is probably the second most important decision you have to make regarding your wedding day look because it’s such an iconic part of the classic wedding outfit, and there are so many types to choose from! From elbow length to the dramatic cathedral, there many different lengths of veil to choose from. Read our post about veils for more information about each kind.
There are a few other things you should consider while looking for the right veil. First, you have to make sure that the color of the veil matches the dress exactly, or it may clash, and that’s not something you want for your wedding day look! You should also consider what details your dress has, because if your dress has a highly-detailed back, you will want to go for a sheer veil that won’t obscure it too much. If you’re dress is a super dramatic statement piece, then you might want to pair it with a simpler veil that won’t steal the show. And if you’re rocking a minimalist gown, feel free to jazz it up with a totally glamorous veil!
Complement Your Neckline
The neckline is one of the most important details of the dress and can definitely inform your decision on what type of accessories to add to your look. If your neckline is highly detailed with a ton of lace, or sparkly embellishments, it might be a good idea to skip the statement necklace and add a pair of dangling earrings instead. Wedding dresses with V-necks look great with a statement necklace to accentuate your bodice, while simple, sleeveless necklines offer the opportunity to add a bit of bling to your shoulders.
Keep It Simple with Demure Jewelry
While it may be tempting to go all out with accessories because your wedding is such a special occasion, a few well-thought out accessories can go a long way! You don’t need every type of accessory to complete your wedding outfit, just choose a couple that you really love that would match well with the rest of your look. A simply chic pair of studs would pair well with a loose hairstyle, while a glamorous bracelet could add just the right amount of shimmer to make your outfit pop!
Not all of your bridal accessories have to be jewelry! Belts are a great way to add an extra layer of glamorous detail to the waistline of a dress- especially the simpler, more minimalist styles. If you want to draw more focus to your waist, then a belt is definitely an accessory you should consider! There are also some super bling-y, dramatic options you can use as a statement piece in lieu of other jewelry!
Dress Up Your Tresses
While the veil is probably the most important head/hair accessory decision, there are a ton of other gorgeous pieces you can adorn your hair with that would look incredible on your wedding day, including the classic tiara, bejeweled, floral clips, shimmering headbands, and even flower crowns for a bohemian vibe. Just remember to have your bridal hairstyle in mind while choosing a hair accessory because some will look better with updos, while others- like the flower crown- will look better with a loose style.
This is the most important tip we can share with you- just be yourself! You’re not trying to become someone else on your wedding day- you’re just trying to be the best version of yourself, so follow your own style and don’t feel pressured to wear anything you wouldn’t normally like, just because you think you need to be super glamorous! It’s the quirky, unique details of a bride’s wedding day look that will make it all the more special and memorable for you and all of your guests!
